ASEICA and the Lycée International de Valbonne are happy to announce the return of Martín Espada to the CIV stage on Monday May 22 at 18h30 in the CIV cinema.
Martín Espada, a former lawyer and current professor at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, is an award-winning poet and one of the Core Poets on the OIB syllabus in 1ere and Tle. In addition to speaking to all 2nde and 1ère students, this year Espada will give a public poetry reading/performance/book signing to celebrate the upcoming publication of the first bilingual volume of his poetry, "Le Coeur Battant de la Montre" based on his most recent book "Vivas to Those Who Have Failed".
The event is free, but places are limited and must be reserved by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org. You should plan on arriving early and bring a photo ID to facilitate security clearance. It will last around an hour (so from 18h30 to 19h30 or 20h). Anyone who appreciates poetry and theater is welcome to attend. The evening will be mostly in English but there will be readings in French, too. There is no obligation to purchase a book, but should you wish to do so, the local English bookshops in Antibes and Valbonne have copies, and there will be some available after the reading on May 22 (cash or cheque only, please).
You can learn more about Martín Espada as well as read his poems and see his television interviews by visiting www.martinespada.net.
